Nigerian Mobs Alerted By Texting…

Nigerian Mobs Alerted By Texting.

Not unlike what happened in the Battle of Seattle, where participants stayed in close contact using cell phones and real time websites…

Ironically, the blasphemous story published against the prophet has tended to unite the nation’s muslims who have not only been unanimous in their condemnation of the story, but have also been sending solidarity text messages on their GSM phones to alert one another on the blasphemy since last Sunday.

AbdulHameed Daramola, a Lagos Muslim told Weekly Trust that he alone alerted over seventy Muslims across the country about the blasphemy through text messages on his GSM since last Sunday when he became aware of the issue. [Smart Mobs]

California budget crisis worse than…

California budget crisis worse than expected

Davis warned that the 2003-04 budget shortfall will soar beyond the staggering $21.1 billion projected earlier this month by the nonpartisan legislative analyst’s office,

A few months back we had this same headline. Except then the deficit was expected to be 10 billion with an outside chance of reaching 20 billion. Now they say it’ll be way more than 20 billion.  And no one knew? No one had had a clue huh?

The Sacramento battles will be getting real ugly real fast.

Miss World contest moved after…

Miss World contest moved after 100 die in riots

A Nigerian newspaper said the prophet Muhammed might have married a Miss World contestant and the country erupted into riots and murderous violence. What’s more, it seems to be getting worse, not tapering off.

The organisers of the Miss World beauty pageant announced last night that they were moving the contest from Nigeria to London, following three days of religious violence which have left more than 105 people dead and more than 500 injured.

Groups of Muslims and Christian youths armed with stones, sticks and guns fought pitched battles and destroyed churches and mosques, in a wave of bloodletting. The streets of Kaduna were littered with burnt-out cars and tyres, and witnesses counted dozens of bodies on the streets.

The United States says all non-essential diplomatic personnel can leave Jordan¸ amid concerns for the safety of US citizens.

This indicates war is close and that any American in the Middle East is a target. Uh, so, given this, we hope to soon run a country there?
