Bush referred to as ‘moron’…

Bush referred to as ‘moron’ at NATO summit

Canada has declined to comment on reports a senior Canadian official at the NATO summit in Prague has referred to US President George W Bush as a moron.

Newspaper The National Post says a top Canadian official has expressed frustration President Bush seems more keen on building up moral support for a possible assault on Iraq, rather than concentrating on NATO expansion - the official focus of the summit.

A spokesman for Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien says he will not comment on the incident.

If Canada refuses to deny it…well…draw your own conclusions.

The real point here of course is Bush has indeed ignored anything resembling the actual purpose of the summit. If Canada, a purported ally, is annoyed, imagine what other ccuntries are thinking.

It’s Doo Dah Parade time!

It’s Doo Dah Parade time!

The Pasadena Doo Dah Parade is the anti Rose Bowl parade. It is meant to be deeply silly, zany, and fun.

This Sunday, Greens from Los Angeles will be participating!

Our theme is “Give Pizza a Chance”. We will perform synchronized tossing of pizza boxes to the ”Visualize Whirled Peace” baton twirling of a Florida State Champion baton twirler!  But wait, there’s more!

The Billionaires for Bush’s War, a satirical vocal group will be joining us! (In 2000, they were the Billionaires for Bush or Gore, but events obviously have forced a re-naming) and will be in full formal attire requesting that all immediately engage in war.

Possibles chants include:
“What do we want?”. “Pizza”.
“When do we want it?” “Thirty minutes”

and

“No justice, no pizza”

I may go dressed as a warmonger so people can bat me over the head with pizza boxes.

More bulletins as events warrant! Email me if you want more info.

Lugar will back Colin Powell…

Lugar will back Colin Powell approach

Lugar assumes Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

A Foreign Policy Maven Has His Old Chair Back

Unlike the committee’s current ranking Republican, Sen. Jesse Helms (R-N.C.), who is retiring, Lugar is more likely to support the State Department’s approach in its constant intramural battles with the hawks at the Pentagon and elsewhere in the administration.

“Lugar will be dreadful,” said a prominent foreign policy conservative who asked not to be identified. “He is a conventionally minded apparatchik of the establishment.”….

…”I don’t want to alarm the Republican right, but there is very little Dick Lugar and I disagree on,” said the current committee chairman, Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. (D-Del.), who will hand over his gavel to Lugar when the new Congress meets next year and the Republicans take control of the Senate. “He is the most informed Republican in Congress on foreign affairs, and if I can’t be chairman there is no one who I would have rather be chairman.” [

L.A. has 16 homicides in…

L.A. has 16 homicides in 6 days

There’s a gang war going on, several gang wars actually. The homicide rate in L.A. is climbing while in other big cities, it is dropping.

And what does our brand new police chief, who has been here about a month say?

I’m very disturbed and angry,” he said in an interview. “I need this city angry about gangbangers shaping the perception of Los Angeles.”

Bratton described many of the city’s violent criminals as “mental nitwits who don’t have the same value systems as you and I.”

Thanks for sharing that. We are deeply grateful for an L.A. newbie wagging his finger at us and telling us to get angry. We, of course, have never done that before. What a novel idea. And name calling at gangbangers is certainly a proven crime fighting technique. Truly, we are lummoxes for not having thought of these ideas before.

Our new chief appears to be a grandstanding publicity-hungry loudmouth. One wonders if he will actually accomplish anything useful, as he steps into the LAPD maw that has swallowed many and mangled more than a few.

Microsoft warns of widespread web security hole

Instead of the constant discoveries of and warnings about gaping security problems with Microsoft software, why doesn’t the Borg actually FIX these problems before they ship the products?

Microsoft is warning millions of customers to download a fix for a “critical” security hole in numerous software products.

A security alert issued by Microsoft reads: “At greatest risk are systems that operate web sites using Microsoft Internet Information Services and anyone who browses the web using Microsoft Internet Explorer.”
